For those who persevere and finish their own personal Favorez skin there are still some things left to do:

1. Enter author information

2. Write a readme.rtf

3. Upload your skin

1. Enter author information

Give yourself some credit for designing and coding your own Favorez skin! The name of the author of a Favorez skin can be found on the Info tab of the skin Properties dialog box. Technically this name is saved to a special section of the skinfo.ini file.

example skinfo.ini

[Author]

Name=my name

Company=my company

2. Write a readme.rtf

Each Favorez skin has its own readme.rtf file. The text in that file appears on the Info tab of the skin Properties dialog box. If you want to give the end users of your skin any instructions put them in a readme.rtf file. Save the file to your skin folder. As the name of the file suggests the format is RTF. Files with this format can be created and edited with Windows WordPad or Word.

Hyperlink

Favorez will automatically turn any web address in your readme.rtf file into a hyperlink. In order for this to work the web address must include "http://".

Note

Do not put any pictures in the readme.rtf file, they will be ignored by Favorez.

Translations

Although the readme.rtf file should be in English you may include a translation of the file in your own language. Save your translation to a separate file named readme_[language code].rtf, e.g.: readme_de.rtf for a German translation. Look up your language code at the following web address: www.lisa.org/iso639.html. Favorez looks at the Windows locale setting (Control Panel) to determine which file should be displayed. If no proper translation can be found the standard readme.rtf will be used instead.

3. Upload your skin

If you want to share your work with others you can upload your skin. Go to SkinDev on the Favorez website for further instructions.
